Taking inspiration from the concept of perspective projection, Switch Planisphere is a
projection mechanism developed for a narrow exhibition space. The mechanism foregoes the
usual central-perspective based systems of projection and employs a different, nonlinear
projection mechanism which uses a moving light source as its projection point, casting
shadows into the space and calling visual hierarchies into question.
A tiling of a seminal image of early cinema - the rider on horseback, subject of the
first moving image - is gradually distorted, then flattened again, enveloping the
surrounding space in its subtle contortions.
